San Mateo County Parks acquired a CalTrans Community-Based Transportation Planning Grant to facilitate the Local Government Commission to study opportunities for managing traffic, improving safety and creating effective linkages along and across the vital and scenic corridor of Highway 1. In June 2009 a 5 day series of charettes took places with the public, and a number of focus groups were held with public agencies, business, schools, and user groups to develop strategies. A Draft Report Highway 1 Safety and Mobility Improvement Project focused on the San Mateo County Midcoast Communities of Miramar, El Granada and Princeton has been prepared and is ready for public review and comment. The document can be found on the County Park website at http://www.eparks.net, under Park Planning, under Other Planning Efforts. A public workshop will be held to review the findings and recommendations in the Draft Report, solicit additional feedback, and focus on next steps for implementation of the recommendations in the report. For additional information or to submit comments by the deadline of March 8, 2010 at 5:00 p.m. please contact Senior Planner Sam Herzberg at 650/363-1823 or email@example.com.
