Fishing vessel sinks off Half Moon Bay, one dead

PRESS RELEASE (Coastside Fire Protection District)

At approximately 14:16 Hrs. Today Fire
Department crews from the Coastside Fire District, Assisted the San
Mateo County Harbor District rescue two individuals that were thrown into
the sea after their boat sank approximately 10 miles off Pillar Point in Half
Moon Bay.

Small craft advisories were in effect at the time of the accident,
when the crabbing vessel was fishing off shore and they began taking on
water. One victim was flown by Coast Guard helicopter to awaiting fire
and EMS crews that transported the victim to Seton Coastside Hospital
were he was pronounced dead. The second victim was transported by
boat to the Harbor Masters office were he was treated and released by
paramedics.

The rescue effort was coordinated between San Mateo County
Harbor District, Coastside Fire Protection District, U.S. Coast Guard, San
Mateo County Sheriff and American Medical Response Paramedics.
