School scores released, elementary schools and Cunha gain, high school loses ground

The California Department of Education released the performance score for schools today. Below is a chart with both the current school scores (2009) and those from the year before.

The “State Rank” number indicates the school’s score in relation to those of other schools throughout California. A score of 10 indicates that the school is in the top decile (the top ten percent), a score of 9 indicates the school in in the second decile (the second highest ten percent) and so forth.

The “Similar Schools” number is similar to the State Rank but instead of comparing the school’s score against all California schools it instead compares it with other schools that have a similar demographic make-up.
