San Mateo County’s only medical-marijuana dispensary will probably be forced to shut down after the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday rejected the operator’s appeal for a license to operate.
The board voted 5-0 to deny Blue Heaven Collective a permit to keep its Moss Beach location open. The decision came during an appeal hearing on a previous denial issued by the county License Board. If Rubin Muniz, head of the collective, wants to keep operating, his only remaining option is to file a lawsuit challenging the decision.
“We’re taking some time to think about it,” said Muniz’s attorney, Zachary Wasserman, adding that they should reach a decision by the end of the week.
Deputy County Counsel David Silberman said after Tuesday’s hearing that the club must shut down immediately. Sheriff’s deputies will probably visit the collective today to make sure it complies, he said.
