Update, Midnight. The Moon moves deeper into the Earth’s shadow and takes on a increasingly reddish hue.
The sky is still largely covered with thick clouds but I managed to make this new photograph through a convenient patch of thin mist.
The Moon as it enters the edge of the Earth’s shadow.
Here’s a glimpse of the Moon through a hole in the extensive cloud cover over the Coastside as the Moon enters the penumbra of the Earth’s shadow. The photo was taken at about 11:15 p.m. local time from Montara. The eclipse will continue for the next several hours.
Try the NASA live webcast of the eclipse from a clearer location.
