Coastal Repertory Theatre Launches 27th Season with
Family Favorite “A Christmas Story”

The story of Ralphie and his quest for a Red Ryder BB gun, this heart-warming stage adaptation of the Jean Shepherd classic film runs November 16 – December 16

November 7, 2012 – Half Moon Bay, Calif. – Coastal Repertory Theatre launches its 27th season with the holiday family favorite, “A Christmas Story.” Adapted for the stage from Jean Shepherd’s classic film and directed by Roxane Ashe, the production features a talented cast of regional actors and is fun for the entire family.

In this adaptation of the 1983 film, Ralphie Parker yearns for a Red Ryder BB gun for Christmas. But can he endure the town bully and his family to survive till Christmas? Set in Indiana in 1939, this cheery holiday show will provide belly laughs aplenty as the Parker family doles out antics involving a leg lamp, bunny pajamas, and some “Chinese turkey.”

“We’re bringing the fun of A Christmas Story to life with a cast and set that transports the audience into the anticipation of Christmas and that perfect gift we all long for” explains Ashe.  “Will he get his BB gun?  Will he shoot his eye?  There’s only one way to find out!”

Playing adult Ralph is Coastal Rep veteran actor and director Mark Drumm, whose son Lucas plays Ralphie’s bully nemesis Farcus.  Playing young Ralphie Parker is Finn Rollings, making his third Coastal Rep appearance after “The Who’s ‘Tommy’” and “To Kill a Mockingbird.”  Rounding out the Parker family are Coastal Rep comedy favorites Steve Travis, playing the irascible Old Man, and the ever-patient Mother, played by Gloria Moore.  Braydon Campbell and Marco Yaque share the role of Ralphie’s lovable tag-along brother Randy.

Adding to the fun are many young actors from the children’s theater program Coastal Theatre Conservatory (CTC), including Hannah Adler, Sami Benitez, Ashley Grant, Max Rosse Gunkel, Kai Guevara, Vance Islander, Angela Joswiak, Klara La Guardia, and Annaliese Shelton – many of whom were seen in “A Christmas Carol” and “To Kill a Mockingbird.”

“A Christmas Story” runs Friday and Saturday evenings at 8 pm, and Sundays at 2pm, from November 16 – December 16.
