The Midcoast Community Council held its twice-monthly meeting on Wednesday. The meeting features MCTV manager Connie Mallach and husband (and MCTV lawyer) Michael Day informing the MCC that they will soon be broadcasting live. This was news to the members of the MCC. According to Michael Day the MCC will from now on have to start their meetings exactly on time as they go live, hold meetings only in the hospital meeting room rather than in more pleasant locations, require citizens to speak at the microphone and not from their seats, and so on. The show will now open with a comedic monologue by Leonard Woren and will feature a mid-show duet with Neil Merrillees and Debroah Lardie singing Sonny & Cher’s “I Got You Babe,” the show’s new theme song. (Joke.) MCTV did not explain how they have the time or resources for this effort considering that they still seem to be struggling to get their web page working. The meeting then proceeded to the applicants for the two vacant MCC seats. I’ve included them here in this video but I have also put the interviews in a separate post. The final hour of the meeting was largely taken up with a discussion of planning and zoning, especially the tension between the County’s planning and zoning process, in which it appears direct appeals to the Board of Supervisors plays a significant role, versus establishing a fair and truly open process which benefits the coastside community.
