The State of California recently released the 2008 Accountability Progress Reporting results, including those for the schools in our Cabrillo Unified District. The chart above summarizes the results. The overall score for each school is reported and then below it the results are shown for the White and Hispanic subgroups. The orange bar represents the 2008 scores, the gray bar the 2007 scores. Schools with scores below 800 are required to show improvement from year to year, both in the overall sore and the subgroups scores. The amount of growth required varies depending on how far the score is from the target. Schools that showed especially good progress this year are Hatch (which raised its Hispanic subgroup score up 30 points), Cunha (which raised its Hispanic subgroup score up 21 points), Farallone View (which raised its White subgroup score up 30 points) and El Granada Elementary (which raised its White subgroup score up 29 points). This year the schools that failed to meet their targets are Farallone View (which brought its Hispanic subgroup score up 2 points, 4 short of the target) and the Half Moon Bay High School (which actually lost ground--the only school to do so on the coastside--on both its overall score and its Hispanic subgroup score). The overall best scoring local school was Farallone View with 831, maintaining its lead position from last year. In the White subgroup Farallone View and El Granada Elementary tied for the highest score at 914, both rising about 30 points to continue their neck and neck rankings from the year before. In the Hispanic subgroup the lead remains unchanged from 2007 with El Granada Elementary boasting a 42 point lead over Farallone View, its nearest rival. You can begin exploring the data for yourself at the California Department of Education's Dataquest site. Chart by Darin Boville |
