The new school year will start n August 25th for students rather than the original date of August 23rd. Those two days, August 23rd and 24th, are now labeled as teacher work days.
Prior to the passage of Measure E this past Tuesday the School District and the teachers’ union came to an agreement to cut three (instead of five) days from the school year if the parcel tax passed. Measure E passed with approximately 70% of the vote. It is unclear whether the delay of the start of the school year is a result of those cuts.
