Moss Beach, CA: On, Monday, February 18, at approximately 11:00 pm, County Dispatch received report of a house on fire in the 500 block of Lancaster Street. San Mateo County Sheriffs Deputies arrived on scene within minutes and quickly learned, from the homeowner, that his two young daughters were still inside the residence. Without regard for their own safety, Sheriff’s Office Personnel entered the smoke filled residence and rescued the two girls still asleep in their beds in an upstairs bedroom.
Once all family members including the family dog were out of the residence safely, the fire was quickly extinguished. Fire damage was contained to the garage however there was smoke damage throughout the residence.
The family members rescued from the house and responding Sheriff’s Office personnel were given medical treatment on scene and were later transported to area hospitals as a result of smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
