Facebook page, Change.org petition, and Patch forum created to help community organize to save Moss Beach Park

Community members are organizing to save Moss Beach Park after it was purchased at auction by a Pacifica developer. The developer purchased the property after the non-profit which owned the parcel failed to pay property taxes. In addition to the regular community forums on Montara Fog, TalkAbout, and individuals’ blogs, Facebook and Twitter feeds, several topic-specific social media destinations have been created to address this issue.

A Facebook page has been created at https://www.facebook.com/friendsofmossbeachpark created by a group calling itself “Friends of Moss Breach Park.” It was created about four hours ago.

That same group appears to have started a petition at Change.org (https://www.change.org/petitions/san-mateo-county-and-local-government-officials-save-moss-beach-park) to ask the County and local government officials to intervene. Moss Beach resident Bruce MacKimmie is listed as the contact point for that petition. MacKimmie is listed on the old Moss Beach Park website as one of the construction captains. The petition was also created a few hours ago.

Finally (for now), Half Moon Bay Patch has created a forum area for community members to discuss this issue.

Note to community members: Please be aware that anything you post to Facebook or on any other online forum is visible to all members of the public.
